WHO IS ESAU COOPER?

The world breaks everyone, and afterwards, some are strong at the broken places. - Ernest Hemingway
Before last evening if anyone had asked me the title question I'd have probably asked, "Is he related to D. B.?"
D. B. Cooper - hijacker.
In November, 1971 he jumped from a commercial airliner with a lot of cash and the case never solved. Google him sometime.
Esau is not related to D. B. (as far as I know).
The hijacking happened out west.
Esau lives in western Maine. He pilots lawn mowers in dirt track races. And is a champion.
More about Esau in a moment.
In Chaos Theory there's a three-dimensional consequence realized when plotting millions, if not billions, of iterations of a non-linear algorithm. It's called a "strange attractor."
Strange Attractors are quite intriguing and beautiful. Points plotted that make little sense realize order when the millions or billions of points come together over time.
With patience comes order.
Esau, like each of us, is a data point.
Small town Maine Esau bumped into a guy named Tucker Carlson who happened to be at the same place as Esau.
Esau, a fan, recognized him.
Conversation.
Esau mentioned to Tucker he watched his programming - Fox News and now at tuckercarlson.com - and noted he interviewed a lot of famous people but suggested he interview him because he, too, had interesting things to say. So Tucker acted on the suggestion and the two sat in Tucker's familiar cabin (wherever it is) for a conversation.
I watched that 41 minutes or so conversation last night.
And have been thinking about it.
Esau has had a tough go of it.
He didn't mention age but he's no kid. Fifties maybe.
Since teens he's been an abuser of drugs and alcohol and in and out of rehab.
He's worked inside. Hated it.
He's worked out-of-doors - logging, asphalt paving, and now as an excavator - which sounds like he's found his calling.
His description of seeing a raw tract of land and envisioning it sculpted to accommodate a home sounded a lot like how a painter sees a blank canvas or a sculptor a chunk of clay.
The guy's an artist.
His black t-shirt with "Domestic Terrorist" in big white letters across the front caught my attention, and Tucker's.
He explained.
In so many words, since believers in the Constitution are now under attack by the government he wants his status clear. Have to love the sarcasm. Sincere.
What was clear about Esau ...
He'a blue collar guy.
He's a sinner, Christian, who knows right from wrong.
He's made some poor choices in life but took responsibility.
He's made even poorer choices but took responsibility.
He's made some good choices in life.
He's struggled at times.
He mentioned a mentor or two, deceased, who haunt keeping him on the right path. They saved his life.
He's disgusted with the present state of America.
He believes in Mr. Trump.
He's still finding his way.
He's not a domestic terrorist.
Esau is a patriot.
Plot Esau.
There's lots of him.
There's lots of people similar.
There's lots of people polar opposite.
And there's still more of endless variants.
Of all things, Esau Cooper is a survivor.
And if Congress was made up entirely of men of his ilk we'd be a different, for the greater good, country. That's another commentary.
Now, what's our strange attractor?
I don't know.
No one knows.
The points - each representing a broken but stronger American - still being plotted.
And the D. B. Cooper case?
Perhaps one day solved by way of a non-linear algorithm.
As attractively strange as that may sound.
Keep the faith!
Afterword ...
Tucker Carlson has no idea who I am and in no way am I compensated for mentioning much less recommending his interesting programming at: https://tuckercarlson.com/ Membership fee nominal and worth it for full access including the sit-down with Esau - who I've likewise not met.

Colonel - reminds me of a song
I heard last night.
Oh, take your time, don't live too fast
Troubles will come and they will pass
You'll find a woman, yeah, and you'll find love
And don't forget son there is someone up above
And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can?
Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need is in your soul
And you can do this, oh, baby, if you try
All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied
And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
