WHAT'S GOING ON IN OUR JUSTICE DEPARTMENT?

WHAT'S GOING ON IN OUR JUSTICE DEPARTMENT?

Hope is a waking dream. Aristotle

This morning I watched most of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein's testimony before the House Judiciary Committee.

Testimony?

Calling it testimony, though technically so while under oath, a stretch.

The "questioning" - surprise, surprise - primarily political statements by those enamored by the sound of their voice and fell along party lines.

The Republicans tried to get to the bottom of FBI corruption; which Mr. Rosenstein would not answer simple key core questions.

And the Democrats went after President Trump; which Mr. Rosenstein wisely and correctly offered a gentlemanly stiff-arm.

And these the people we have temporarily entrusted to represent 'The People' and do what's right for America?

Right.

Mr. Rosenstein had nothing of substance to say. He, repeatedly, raised the shield of policy not to comment on ongoing investigations.

"Ongoing investigations"?

That go nowhere.

But there was a bright spot - of five minutes.

Representative Trey Gowdy (R, SC) was, as always, superb.

He cut through the nonsense and got to the matter on the minds of the people to whom he reports (and mine) back home with one question ...

"What's going on in our justice department?"

Mr. Rosenstein did not and need not answer.

To that question any rational thinking person who has been paying attention these past not months but years can but conclude ...

We do not have a justice department.

No one, apparently, is in charge.

Oaths taken have proved as worthless as the people who swore to them.

Values, morals, principles, ethics, integrity, confidence, impartiality, fairness, fidelity, trust, leadership - where are they?

Cancer.

I have witnessed it ravage one dear to me.

Now cancer ravages my country.

Not just the DOJ and FBI require brutal chemotherapy, radical surgery, and radiation.

Throw in ass-kicking and prison time.

And that may not be enough.

We better wake the hell up!

Or the failing spark in our eye will be extinguished.

So ...

Engage. Demand representatives comply with oath and carry out duties - to country (not self, party, et al.). Dogged persistence required.

And ...

Dream. Believe in Santa Claus.

Pray. Trust in God. We must.

For in them 'we the people' at least see goodness and cling to a glimmer of hope.
