Teachers can change lives with just the right mix of chalk and challenges.  - Joyce Meyer

A few weeks ago along a short stretch of paved "greenway" was the chalk art of children.

A few blocks of chalk lay aside the path.

No one around.

Time for pause.

So simple quick drawing complete with longtime trademark signature.

No one happened along so identity preserved.

Couple days later another quick drawing.

The children responded.

So another drawing, from life, of walking partner and favorite model.

And a couple more, with request of children.

They replied. And next day caught me - identity revealed.

That evening Nature washed away the art. No trace.

Home after a few days out of town the kids, with help of parents, upped the fun!

A couple of the children were waiting, watching from a porch. They came outside and asked to watch.

"Sure!"

"What are you going to draw?"

"How about a whimsical take on a famous Vermeer?"

"Who's Vermeer?" asked a young girl.

While drawing, a brief teaching moment with comment about his famous 'Girl with a Pearl Earring.'

Then during late evening walk, no one around, a seasonal bonus - different headgear - to surprise the children the following morning.

While drawing girl with earring a small boy asked for a headless horseman.

I suggested perhaps a little closer to Halloween. He was okay with that.

Now to figure out simple rendering suitable for chalk.

There's caveat: I draw after them.

That's where we stand.

I hear talk many passersby, too, enjoy the chalk.

Until Nature, again, clears the board.
