The secret of freedom, courage. - Thucydides

Today is Big Bob's birthday.

May be art

Robert F. Sommer

aka: Big Bob

oil on canvas (life-size)

He'd be 96.

Big Bob was a Tin Can Sailor (World War II).

He fathered three children.

He was somewhat of a politician serving as mayor of his tiny northern New Jersey town.

He was a rehab counselor helping many turn their life around.

Big Bob had a cynic's sense of humor and was an easygoing straight-shooter.

Big Bob died too young 22 years ago.

Cancer.

Big Bob was my father-in-law.

Despite my best efforts, I failed getting him to appreciate good grits. And am grateful he did not hold my repeated offerings against me. His unique ways of graciously declining and downright avoiding still give me joy.

Of course Donald Trump came on the political scene long after Big Bob's days but I'm confident his take on the former President would be fair.

Politics does not interest me. At all.

On the other hand, the Constitution of the United States interests me and I've not time for enemies (foreign and domestic) nor cowards thereto.

So to that thought I've interest in who seeks office, and is appointed to office, swearing to safeguard our founding and way of life - freedom.

Whatever your position on the state of America today is irrelevant to the next handful of sentences wrapping up today's comment.

The political persecution of Donald Trump is wrong.

Not interested in debating. It's wrong.

As was wrong the way President Trump treated.

His running again understandable; unfinished business.

However ...

Elect Ron DeSantis President.

President DeSantis ...

1. Pardon Donald Trump;

2. Appoint Donald Trump Attorney General.

Clean house (arrests, charges, public trials).

No prisioners (no winks, nods, secret handshakes nor drug deals in the head nor White House).

Fix America!
