What's the big idea? Donald Duck

Last evening was the 12th debate between candidates vying for the GOP's nomination for president in the general election.

Still standing of 17 but 4.

Unlike the previous 11 rounds, this debate was actually presidential - in moderator conduct and substantive questioning, and candidate answers and decorum. Though the crowd was animated - on the rowdy side and partisan.

But were this fight for the prize boxing, at least as far as polling and voting to date goes, it'd have been a knockout a few debates ago.

Come Tuesday odds are we'll know for certain. Could be a knock out. Could be a technical knockout. Could be no decision but that's improbable.

Anyway, back to the Donalds Duck.

There is no denying the parallels.

Donald Duck was created by Walt Disney Productions.

Donald Trump Walt Disney Productions could not have created.

Donald is 12 years senior the Donald.

Donald Duck, a mischievous and temperamental character, is a sometimes on the march toon who communicates with semi-intelligble speech.

Donald "Duck" (as in evading punches thrown at him) Trump is, too, a mischievous and temperamental character who communicates with semi-intelligible speeches while marching to his own tune.

Donald Duck has a yellow-orange bill.

Donald Trump has yellow-orange hair that's shaped sort of like a bill.

Donald Duck wears a blue suit and sometimes red tie (albeit bow).

Donald Trump wears a blue suit and red tie on occasion.

Donald Duck has a short temper.

Donald Trump has a short temper.

Donald Duck has a positive outlook on life.

Donald Trump has a positive outlook on life.

Donald Duck is feisty and tenacious.

Donald Trump is feisty and tenacious.

Donald Duck is a bit of showman and braggart.

Donald Trump is a bit of showman and braggart.

Donald Duck gets a kick out of imposing on or annoying others.

Donald Duck is sometimes a bully.

Donald Trump is sometimes a bully.

Donald Duck can get excited. Very excited.

Donald Trump can get excited. Very excited. Very, very excited. Very, very, very excited.

Donald Duck asked, "What's the big idea?"

Donald Trump has big ideas.

Donald Duck has nephews named Huey, Dewey, and Louie.

Donald Trump debated Huey, Dewey, and Louie - who may soon be dead ducks.

The Norwegians, huge fans of Donald Duck, coined the term "Donaldism."

Now much of America, huge fans of a Donald who knows how to duck, is enraptured with their own sort of "Donaldism."

Is this a great country or what?

Well, she used to be. And the Donald "Duck" is quacking he'll 'Make America Great Again!'

Stay tooned.

And tuned.
