SPEAK UP, COMMANDANT OF THE MARINE CORPS

SPEAK UP, COMMANDANT OF THE MARINE CORPS

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.  - Leonardo da Vinci

Leon was interested in anatomy, astronomy, aviation, engineering, shipbuilding and more.

Elon is interested in anatomy, astronomy, aviation, engineering, spaceship building and more.

Leon - genius.

Elon - Leon of our day.

519 years between births; da Vinci 1452, Musk 1971.

A few days ago a friend sent article about the U. S. Navy docking 17 support ships for lack of civilian mariners.

Those ships critical to transporting U. S. Marines and stuff Marines use to fight.

Bottom line: Stranded Marines.

And that's a national security problem.

Elon knows something about people being stranded.

His company SpaceX recently rescued stranded NASA astronauts; private industry solving a government problem.

And that's not all.

In less than two years after buying the bumbling social media platform Twitter, Elon's rebrand - X - is now the most innovative and dominating free speech platform on Earth.

Electric cars and trucks; satellites; rockets; tools to capture and reuse boosters; space capsules; neural link; social media platform; and, like Leon, who knows what else is in his mind and sketchbooks.

So, why not shipping - seagoing or something else - to move Marines and their stuff?

Like Leon, Elon - one-man think tank.

Back in Leon's day seagoing warriors had a problem.

Leon is credited with inventing the double hull for naval ships - to keep them afloat when rammed and the outer hull damaged.

500 years later seagoing warriors have a more fundamental problem.

Elon the logical, destined even, solver.

Renaissance men make things happen.

Speak up, General Smith, ask Elon; the man driven to colonize Mars is your guy.

Great idea but the Commandant’s ego would get in the way. He’s an embarrassment and should be relieved!

LOL, yes General Smith. What say you sir? Not much I assume. What say you sir about Trump's promise to get all the reportedly 15K transgenders out of the military? I rolled over in laughter when one of pundits said it will hurt military preparedness and recruiting. I believe the fact that they are allowed in military is what has hurt recruiting. Of course, Gen Smith proudly proclaimed that the Corps made their annual goal by one. However, those of us who have a background in recruiting know better; we know how the Corps met the goal. Simply by holding off on all discharges during August and September. I witnessed the Corps doing that in the 80's while I had RS Chicago.
I cannot wait for 20 January. Last evening after devouring a superb Thanksgiving feast at daughter's home was talking to son-in-law about Elon and others Trump has summoned to assist. We both decided we were going to start watching CNN and MSNBC for our news after the inauguration. We believe it will be fun to hear the babble and watch the frustrations from those two networks concerning the daily events that Trump and company will parlay on the current administration. If they hold to their word, I suspect the unemployment rate will skyrocket as former government workers begin anew looking for similar work. Surely they will not find similar work, that is doing nothing but taking up space on a roster but doing nothing substantive. I am so excited, am having trouble sleeping. Maybe I'll start watching CNN and MSNBC now.

What the Corps needs now are some Warriors like Generals Wilson and Barrow to shake up the "status quo" and "fix" what Gen. Smith and his predecessor have done to the Corps' warfighting capability. Unfortunately, I think the current CMC lacks the cajones and moral courage to do it. I second Rob's position: relief is called for,...now!
