BENGHAZI - THE COURAGEOUS, THE COWARDS, THE CONSPIRATORS

BENGHAZI - THE COURAGEOUS, THE COWARDS, THE CONSPIRATORS

The truth needs so little rehearsal. Barbara Kingsolver

From the onset, some eight years ago, the core of this forum, topic notwithstanding, was one goal: Truth (with civility)

And that truth-telling based upon three values: Honor. Courage. Commitment.

Yes, that simple.

Today, concluding two years of pain-staking work hurdling, going around, and plowing through obstructionists (who used every legal and illegal and surely unethical means) at most every turn, was published the House Committee's Report on Benghazi.

The black ink, official confirmation of what we already "knew," barely dry.

Red, I see, after perusing much of the report and thinking about it during rigorous physical exercise.

More to read and consider still but not so much as to preclude initial thoughts as Executive Summary.

As such, truth with civility...

The Courageous: Glen A. Doherty; Sean P. Smith, Jr.; J. Christopher Stevens; Tyrone S. Woods

Murdered, they were abandoned - while under attack - by their country and countrymen.

Their self-less service merits our never-ending gratitude.

The Cowards: Military flag and general officers in command who failed - oath, conscience, and heart (spirit) to do what was right (regardless of [their] orders).

Disgraceful.

With the shame they must live.

The Conspirators: Barack Obama; Hillary Clinton; et al.

At best incompetent and now, from the report, at worst collusion (to include with the enemy a sobering possibility).

Conspiracy. Treason.

Now what, Congress?

Alas, James Comey, Director, FBI, time is yours.

Your call as to cohort membership - the courageous, the cowards, or the conspirators?

In closing...

Representative Trey Gowdy (R, SC), Benghazi Committee Chairman, led the way - dogged and methodical pursuit of truth under the three values cited in the opening. For that, excellence in public service, he (as do other committee members) deserves our respect and thanks. Bravo!

Now if only our candidates for president were of such stalwart character.

More truth, civilly, to come.

Two quotes from Thomas Jefferson come to mind:
1. "In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock."
Who will remain standing like a rock, once this sad debacle is finally over?
2. "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
If HRC goes unpunished for Benghazi, e-mails, etc, we may be due for some refreshing of that tree...
