"Truth exists; only lies are invented." Georges Braque
What did Americans learn from Hillary Clinton's testimony before the House Select Committee on Benghazi?
Lengthy analysis not required.
Not enough!
Why?
For the struggle to find fact and truth was interrupted by invented lies and politics.
Committee Democrats should have been required to submit their time-wasting, smoke-screen statements for inclusion in the record thus yielding, our time not theirs, to the Chairman for redistribution to committee members inclined to ask serious questions on behalf of our citizenry.
Three macro observations (having watched every second spanning 11 hours)...
1. Fact: Hillary Clinton was derelict carrying out duties as secretary of state. She lied. And worse. Her relatively calm demeanor did not mask fumbled and contradictory substance failing to lead the state department. President? No.
2. Objective opinion: Congressman Elijah Cummings (D, MD), Ranking Member, made it clear from the onset he'd shirk his sworn duty and not be party to finding fact and truth. He proved an emotional head case. Party brethren followed his lead.
3. Truth: Congressman Trey Gowdy (R, SC), Chairman, stayed on point not seduced by dumb nor clever distraction and is committed to finding fact and truth. If not for his commitment - truth exists - calamity.
Regrettable?
That water, other than in pitchers and glasses and bottles and cups, could not be introduced into questioning. No one would have been bored - especially Hillary who seemed to be at times.
Losers?
Christopher Stevens; Sean Smith; Tyrone Woods; and Glen Doherty - our countrymen (their families, too) on duty and abandoned by our country - murdered in Benghazi, Libya, while fighting for their lives on the evening of 11 September 2012.
All Americans, too.
In closing...
Hillary Clinton (and protectors, cheerleading media, et al.) will throw arms up, cackle, and declare victory. But that party is premature. The House Select Committee on Benghazi work is not done. And the FBI continues to investigate Hillary Clinton on a different but akin front.
Due process to find fact and truth continues, rightfully.
Will there be justice?
Post Script
The Democrats repeatedly cited $4.5 to $4.8 million spent to date on this investigation - of which Hillary Clinton is but one player. Pocket change. A rounding error. At what point does truth lose value? Carry on.

Hillary Clinton has no character, but she is a character. Bob Watral
Andy- you know what a political wonk and junkie I am but I bow to you for having the stomach to listen for all 11 whatever hours. I had to stop after just one. The women turns my stomach, literally turns it. Cummings is such a buffoon I cannot bear the embarrassment of thinking he actually is elected by what must be the stupidest bunch of citizens on the planet.
Steve, it required every fiber of gentlemanly restraint within to not write, in commentary, my blunt analysis of Rep Cummings cerebral workings. I endured the entire testimony so no one could accuse me of unfair analysis.
