Strange times.
The wise, the average minded, and the brute have neither voice nor hand in shaping today's military.
That leaves but one category of "thinker" - so addressed by Cicero - sculpting that force charged with protecting and defending America. Rodin is not among them.
The commandant's recent White Letter (originally published in English) outlining the Marine Corps way ahead as to women serving in ground combat units, including the infantry, omits that which the wise, the average minded, and even the brute expect to see validating such a contentious issue: metrics and data.
That is, irrefutable proof that adding women to ground (combat) units strengthens combat readiness and effectiveness.
Apparently, again, facts do not support politics. Do they ever?!
As with repeal of 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' - politics, not data (e.g., survey of the force), drove change.
Whatever the majority of men and women in uniform (and family members) had to say on paper (surveys and letters to senior leaders) and service chiefs had to say in testimony before Congress was, for all intents and purposes, procedure turned comedy - a circus - and nothing more.
An offensive hack job it was.
Here we go again - with women in ground combat. Politics, not data, is driving hasty implementation.
No need for me to detail. That work has already been done.

Take a few minutes to read her serious, fact-based assessment (link at end) - it's informative; it's interesting. It's alarming!
The conclusion reached by the wise, the average minded, and the brute is the stupid are destroying our once formidable forged iron shield - shouldered between us and evil. Directly, they are piecing together our military, our Marine Corps.
Every citizen, illegal alien, too, is at risk. Engage as will. But by all means get informed and pass along. Duty.
