US(S) AMERICA - A YEAR UNDERWAY

US(S) AMERICA - A YEAR UNDERWAY

A ship in port is safe, but that's not what ships are built for. Grace Hopper

Observing harbour-moored boats in Abaco for hours and hours daily a conclusion this gray, cloudy morning over coffee, and long before morning nautical twilight: politicians are harbour-moored boats.

That is, like harbour-moored boats, politicians head whichever way the wind blows, and go nowhere.

They swing, they pivot, not sail.

Say what you will about President Trump but he is no harbour-moored boat.

To get from Point A to Point B there is no other way than underway.

Set sail!

So orders and goes President Trump and America today - underway.

Sailing.

Sometimes stormy the sea.

But headway.

President Trump, Captain of MAGA (a fine and beautiful boat name), is getting things done.

Too, his crew.

When deployed aboard warships we Marines use the word "cruise" (a serendipitous homophone of crews).

Like ships, we Marines are built not to be ever safe in port but enjoy them on occasion; to blow off steam.

Countries, like ships (war or not) and Marines, are not meant to stay in port.

It's been a long time since America could be described as on cruise.

But we are, finally, following a ridiculously long port call.

Under a bold, capable, and courageous skipper are we.

Pirates beware!

Like him or not ...

America's cup runneth over.

Alas, for our United States, 'Fair Winds and Following Seas.'

And remember ...

The "Crooked Hillary" - captained by a politician - clocked with the wind. She sank.

The journey will be long and we must stay the course.
