PEACEABLE SLEEP, FINALLY

PEACEABLE SLEEP, FINALLY

Sincerity and competence is a strong combination. In politics, it is everything. Peggy Noonan

In the words of George Orwell, "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

The problem, disaster actually, before the election of President Trump is our rough men (and women) standing ready to do violence were not led by rough men (and women).

Barack Obama is not a rough man.

Nor his men and women.

And the world knew it.

Those horrible days behind us. Done.

For the confirmations of leadership - James Mattis, a rough man,  Secretary of Defense; John Kelly, a rough man, Homeland Security; Mike Pompeo, a rough man, CIA, peaceable sleep, finally.

For the confirmation of Rex Tillerson, Secretary of State, who seems a rough man, peaceable sleep, finally.

For the nomination of Lieutenant General H. R. McMaster, a rough man, National Security Advisor, peaceable sleep, finally.

These are exceptionally well-trained, educated, experienced, wise, no-nonsense men who know exactly what must be done to protect the United States of America. They know the enemy(s). And they know how to defeat and destroy the enemy(s). And the enemy(s) know it.

Truth is the leadership of those men and others, including (rough) women, would not be possible if not for the election of President Donald J. Trump, who, in his own right, is a rough man.

As to Ms. Noonan's opening thought, with this powerhouse Cabinet we witness, and enjoy, the strong combination of sincerity and competence. These are people who understand and demand performance-based service - to country. There is no confusion between effort and results.

Sincerity and competence may be everything in politics. But they are too in most everything; foremost being reality.

Our rough men and women (including law enforcement) standing ready to do violence on our behalf could not be better led. They deserve the best, and now have it.

For that, finally, I sleep peaceably in my bed at night.

You and yours should too.

And to echo Robert, I, too sleep very well at night now. And I no longer take my blood pressure medication. I am at peace and loving every minute of it!

Meanwhile the snowflakes and low information voters are losing sleep, fretting over the reversion of their access to gender-neutral toilets. Like Rob and Jim I, too, am at peace and loving every minute of it!!
